A GUIDE TO MANUFACTURING MARKETING MEASUREMENT
Manufacturing marketing measurement defines each reported number, its source and its limits. Use this methodology to distinguish search visibility, inquiries, qualified RFQs and recorded sales outcomes.
Search positions, AI appearances, sessions and form submissions describe different stages of client acquisition. For example, a search impression records visibility. It does not record an inquiry or a sale.
Keep these measures separate in your reports. Then connect them to later stages only when the source data supports that connection.
| Metric | Definition | Minimum evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Tracked ranking | A recorded position for a defined query, location, device and date. | Tool, query set, database and report date. |
| AI appearance | A brand or domain found in a specified model response for a monitored prompt. | Platform, prompt, run date and counting method. |
| Inquiry | A completed contact action received by the business. | Form, call, email or CRM record. |
| Qualified RFQ | A request aligned with agreed capability, market and commercial requirements. | Sales or estimating confirmation against written criteria. |
| Opportunity | A qualified commercial pursuit entered into the company’s defined sales stage. | CRM or documented pipeline record. |
MarketMagnetix publishes individual case evidence with reporting context. The currently disclosed cases represent different manufacturing categories, periods and measurement types. They are not pooled into an industry average because the available public dataset does not yet support a defensible manufacturing benchmark.
A future benchmark would require predefined inclusion criteria, comparable metric definitions, sufficient sample size, anonymization, methodology and limitations.
